Elon Musk has had a total of cars over the years.
Some have been totaled, others have encouraged some of the car design elements that Tesla makes today. Anyway, everyone says a little bit about what Musk is for in a car.
These days, Musk is usually seen cruising around in a Tesla Model S — unless, of course, he takes the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck out for a spin.
Here’s a look at Musk’s car collection over the years.

Musk said in a Forbes video that he bought it in 1994 and repaired it himself. He had it for two years when one of the wheels fell, an unfortunate incident that occurred while one of his first company apprentices, Zip2, was driving him.
Musk explained in the Forbes video that at the age of 17, he won an e-book of old convertibles. The convertible he liked most about e-book was the Jaguar E-Type, so he thought if he allowed it, he’d buy one.
When Musk earned an initial $40,000 reward for Zip2, Musk bought the car.
“This is like a bad friend, it kept breaking me and causing me all sorts of problems,” Musk said of the car in the video.
“I had it for several years and walked 11,000 miles and drove it from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I had him as my driver,” Musk said of his McLaren F1 in an interview with Pando Daily seven years ago.
New, the car sold for nearly a million dollars.

Soon after, Musk hit an embankment and threw his car into the air, where he spun “like a disc.” When he touched the ground again, the glass and wheels were shattered and the car suffered great physical damage, as you can see above.
The car is not insured.
