TORRANCE, California, August 27, 2020 / PRNewswire / – Honda today unveiled the new 2020 Honda Civic Type R Pace Car, which will take the NTT INDYCAR SERIES box to the green flag for the double-titled racing weekend of This weekend’s Bommarito Automotive Group at World Wide Technology Raceway, just outside St. Louis, Missouri.
The newest in a series of Honda Pace cars used for Indy’s engine racing since 2006, the newest Pace car from production innovations to the Honda Civic Type R by 2020, which adds a revamped external and internal stylus; Improvements in driving, handling and braking performance; and increased engine cooling.

“As the world’s fastest front-wheel drive production car, the 2020 Honda Civic Type R fits perfectly into Pace Car’s features,” said Art St. Cyr, Vice President of Automotive Operations at American Honda. “The 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged racing engine produces more than three hundred horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, making it the ideal Honda vehicle to drive the INDYCAR SERIES NTT to the green flag.

Changes to the Civic Type R Pace car come with a Honda Performance Development (HPD) brake set, which add racing discs, racing pads and stainless metal brake lines; Internal security ring; and four-point running harnesses. An exclusive graphic package on the exterior Basic Boost Blue completes the conversion of the Civic Type R showroom into an NTT INDYCAR SERIES Pace car.
