Former MotoGP Bautista rider came third jonathan Rea and Chaz Davies in Sunday’s long race at the Spanish circuit last weekend, having recorded his most productive result in 2020 so far, the fourth of the previous Superpole race today.
It was the first time a Honda driving force had finished in the 3rd most sensible of a WSBK race since Michael van der Mark did it at Magny-Cours in 2016, and the first time since the Japanese manufacturer took over his team this year.Start.
Bautista said the result showed that the new Honda CBR1000RR-R continues to progress, but wants a “more step” before power despite everything fighting for victory.

Bautista said one of the keys to his podium ended his position on the grid, aided through a competitive technique at the start of the Superpole race that determines the order of start of the final.
He also said he had to be careful when driving his tires after crashing into the weekend’s opening race in the final stages.
“I struggled a lot in the first laps of the [first] race because right now I have to drive the motorcycle aggressively, I have to force the motorcycle into the corner,” Bautista said. “When fighting with the other pilots, I can’t do it.
“But in the Superpole race, I took a chance on the first corner, went out and discovered a smart position. And then I was able to win a few more places in the race.”
“So, at the moment, the race is less difficult because I didn’t have many cyclists in front of me, I may stay more in my taste for driving with this bike.
“I had to push from the beginning to keep the group upside down.In the end, the tires fell off and I had to drive the hole with the drivers instead of catching the other drivers, because I did the total race 100%.
Asked about Honda’s shortcomings with its competitors, Bautista replied: “I see that when I brake, if I can brake as I do [normally], we are strong. At the most sensitive speed, we are strong.”
“We’re missing a lot of corners and grip at the start, especially [compared to] the Yamaha, they made a curve on the curve.
“There’s not [one] weakness to improve, they’re little things in all areas.”
Midway through the season, Bautista placed eighth in the rankings with 77 points, two advances from teammate Leon Haslam, who finished seventh in the race of the moment in Aragon.
