Honda Odyssey minivans recalled due to rear and faulty door handles

More than 536,000 Honda Odyssey minivans were removed from the market, fearing that the rearview camera would be displayed and that, in very cold conditions, the electric sliding doors will not lock properly.

For cars affected by the removal of the recoil chamber, Honda says that water can penetrate the mounting holes of the rear view camera and penetrate the camera lens, which can cause a distorted, delayed or inoperative rear view camera demonstration. A delay or absent rear view shows that while the van is on the opposite side it would possibly increase the threat of an accident.

For cars affected by the removal of electric sliding doors, Honda says that water can enter the outer handles of the sliding doors and drain into the cables connected to the door locking mechanisms. In cold temperatures, ice can form in the cable, making it difficult to move the cable and possibly preventing the door from locking. An unlocked sliding door can be opened while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the threat of injury to passengers, Honda said.

Honda claims there have been no reports of injuries or injuries similar to any of those recalls.
