Honda’s sixth-generation CR-V offers an aerodynamic lineup that includes two well-stocked hybrid variants with a new fourth-generation gasoline and electric powertrain. For the first time, front-wheel drive is presented in a CR-V hybrid variant, called Sport, which fits just above the base model, the petrol-only CR-V EX.
Honda expects some CR-V buyers to opt for a hybrid model.
The new hybrid formula includes a subtle 2. 0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired with two larger, rugged electric motors fixed side by side aligned with the engine’s crankshaft.
The engine combines high-pressure direct injection with multistage injection for cleaner combustion, the first of its kind for Honda’s 2. 0-liter engine in North America. It can be decoupled from the hybrid powertrain and will operate as needed depending on battery charge. level.
The new design adds responsiveness for a sportier feel and a more comfortable driving habit on the roads, according to Honda. The most sustained sensitive engine speed increases from 86 mph to 185 mph, a significant gain. Its 247 pound-feet of torque represents an improvement of 15 pound-feet.
