The Canadian Automobile Journalists Association (AJAC) this morning named its Canadian Vehicles of the Year selections with a special presentation at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
Inheriting the name of volkwagen Golf Alltrack, the new Honda Accord selected as Canadian Auto of the Year 2018, ahead of finalists Mazda3 and Volvo S90/V90.
“We are honored and honored to gain this popularity from an automotive news organization in Canada. We are proud and grateful to all of our partners who supported the production and progress of this vehicle and to our passionate consumers who have supported the 40-Year Agreement. “
– Jean-Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada
The other big winner we decided through AJAC was the Chrysler Pacifica, named Canadian Commercial Vehicle of the Year 2018; it has not yet surpassed one of two Mazda SUVs, the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-9.
“There is significant extra air when one of our local products wins a national award. Chrysler Pacifica’s popularity as the 2018 Canadian Utility Vehicle strengthens its position as the award-winning maximum minivan of more than two years and provides third-party validation for the unique suite of versatility, style, protection and generation it brings to Canadians.”
– Reid Bigland, president and CEO of FCA Canada
This was the first year that AJAC did not just consider only new models on the market. The winners were selected by vote among about one hundred AJAC members, who evaluated the cars during the year by trying them on the road under various conditions. Criteria included performance, added equipment, design, fuel power, and overall value.
The winners of the Canadian Green Car of the Year and Green Utility Vehicle of the Year 2018 will be in Vancouver on March 28.
In case you missed it, the new Accord, Volvo XC60 and Lincoln Navigator were named North American Car 2018, North American Commercial Vehicle and North American Truck of the Year, respectively, at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
