BEIRUT/JERUSALEM
Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced on Tuesday that it had attacked the Israeli outpost of Al-Malkieh near the border with southern Lebanon.
A member of the organization said the attack on the army compound resulted in “a direct hit. “
The Israeli military, for its part, said it responded with artillery fire to fire coming from Lebanon.
No casualties were reported.
Tension has erupted along the Lebanon-Israel border amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli army offensive in the Gaza Strip, following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
