Cadillac never filled a V8 engine on the Catera, the entry-level style sold in the United States from 1997 to 2001, so the American tuner Lingenfelter stepped in and presented to do the conversion. One of the few cars in which it dropped an eight-cylinder is for sale, and the larger engine is one of many modifications made.

Included on the Bring a Trailer auction site, this Two Hundred1 Catera lost its V6 in a time after being leased to its first owner in Warren, Michigan. Lingenfelter replaced the 3.0-liter V6 with a 5.7-litre V8 and abandoned the automatic transmission in favor of a six-speed manual, but that’s not enough; the owner sent him back for more. He left the store with a 7.0-litre V8 tailor-made between his wings. It is necessarily a block founded on the Chevrolet Corvette C5. R crowned with LS6 heads, LS6 intake and a less restrictive exhaust. Unfortunately, its strength and torque are not available, but we assume that the V8 gently doubles the force of two hundred horsepower of the popular Catera.

Cadillac announced the Catera built through Opel as the Zig-Zig-Zig Caddy, as the Caddy humiliates the hot rods on a drag strip, so additional modifications were needed to keep the V8’s strength under control. Strengths come with a limited slip differential, lower suspension with larger anti-roll bars and more physically powerful brakes everywhere. At one point in its lifetime, this Catera also won 17-inch alloy wheels, a three-pronged guide wheel and a pinch of V-frames.

Although engine changes are random, this Catera has spent about 18 years and 40,000 miles with a V8 under the hood, so it is said to be a forged and well-designed construction. Lately it has 42,000 miles on its odometer and is located in Michigan. The auction is $6,250 at the time of writing, with five days remaining in the auction. It probably won’t stay long in the four-digit range, and it may end up costing as much as a recent-style ATS-V, but when are you going to find another one like this?
