The South Coast-based brokers’ organization, Hendy, celebrated its workers at a special gala evening.
The Bournemouth International Centre, the backdrop to the Hendy Group Awards 2022 with radio and television presenter Colin Murray as host.
About 1,300 companions were provided where 11 gongs were provided the night.
Awards were presented to colleagues across the company, which represents over 20 franchises and employs over 1600 people in Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Devon.
The group’s used customer, Mark Sanger, and Hendy Truck’s administrative manager, Pauline Allen, have been inducted into the Hendy Hall of Fame.
General Manager Paul Hendy said Mark is a company and a pillar of the industry, and paid tribute to Pauline’s 25 years of service in the trucking division.
Other awards included Team of the Year, which won through Hendy’s Jaguar Land Rover Auction Tea, while Site of the Year went to Iveco School Lane.
Individual winners included Tom Lange of Jaguar Land Rover Southampton, who was named Aftermarket Colleague of the Year and Nick Mead of Hendy Nissan Bournemouth, who was named Sales Colleague of the Year.
Sales Manager of the Year Richard Walker of Hendy Ford Tunbridge Wells and Laura Shipley named Colleague of the Year in Supporting Role.
There was a Hero of the Year award for Hendy Performance coach Rob Procter after riding a bike from Canada to Mexico without a Hendy Foundation advantage-earning team.
Paul Hendy, who will be a keynote speaker at next week’s Car Dealer Live convention, told gala attendees how proud he was of his employees’ contributions and that 2022 had been a pivotal year with the company’s billion-pound turnover.
“Covid meant the toughest trading situations since World War II, but we collapsed and showed resilience,” he said. “Tonight is all about spotting the work he does and 2023 will be our most important year. “
Also speaking at the awards ceremony, Hendy’s president, Simon Gulliford, said: “It’s the other people who make the big difference,” he said.
“We now see the sixth generation of Hendy’s family circle and the company is six times bigger than when I joined in 2014. “
