Head-on collision west of Modesto leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

STANISLAUS COUNTY — Two more people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision west of Modesto on Wednesday.

An Infiniti collided with a Chevrolet around 5:45 p. m. along State Route 132, west of Modesto and Twin Rivers, the California Highway Patrol’s Modesto Division said.

The Infiniti was traveling eastbound and, for reasons still unknown, crossed the westbound lanes directly in the Chevrolet’s trail. The Infiniti caught fire and its two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The two occupants of the Chevrolet were taken to a hospital with serious and non-life-threatening injuries.

The two who died were later identified as 26-year-old Emmanuel Villa-Angel of San Jose and the passenger as 25-year-old Juan Torres Vazquez of Sunnyvale.

State Route 132 was closed between North Gates Road and State Route 33 is scheduled to reopen at 10 p. m.
