‘Have you heard of repo?’: Car salesperson mocks customers who try to trade in busted-up cars

In a viral TikTok video, a car salesman recreated how he feels when a user tries to sell their used car and expects a lot of money.

In the video, which has over a million views, Zee (@ahtziryyyyy) is seen relaxing in the parking lot of the dealership where she works, casually applying lip liner.

But his attitude changes as soon as a potential visitor arrives and says the magic words: “I’m going to the industry in my car. “

Zee gets up and throws everything in her hands onto the floor.

“Why are you going to industrialize it? Why are you going to industrialize it?” she asks with dynamism and visual enthusiasm.

The visitor presents a dream offer: a three-year-old, low-mileage SUV. Used cars have been a highly prized commodity in recent years, as the pandemic has profoundly affected the automotive supply chain, slowing down the production of new cars and making used cars more attractive to many buyers. Although car costs are at all-time highs in 2022, they are still more expensive than they were before the pandemic.

It’s not that a car dealership is excited to add a high-demand used car to their inventory.

When Zee goes to check out the jewel of the vehicle described by the customer, the first thing left is to be impressed. “That’s nice,” he says approvingly.

But the visitor had to burst her bubble, revealing that the car Zee was in love with wasn’t hers.

His SUV was a used Chevrolet with a damaged rear bumper and black duct tape holding everything together. It seemed like Zee could still work with this if the consumer was willing to pass it by for cheap, but to their surprise, the user searched for 46, or $46,000, not $4,600.

“I just asked you to pay,” the visitor said.

“Have you heard of the repository? Zee essentially responds by saying that there is no way for a car dealership to reimburse your car. Instead, you will most likely be repossessed (i. e. , repossessed) through your auto lender.

Zee is a car saleswoman, a traditionally male-dominated industry known for seeking to take monetary merit away from women. According to auto entrepreneur Zippia, women make up only about 11% of all car salespeople.

The video is full of comments, many of them from other people laughing at the recreation of the sketch.

“Girl, please don’t make repositories,” reads one of the top comments.

“So my used manager offers you $200,” one user said.

“This isn’t even an exaggeration either,” another wrote.

The Daily Dot reached out to Zee for comment via Instagram direct message.
