Three other people were killed when the sidewall of a mine collapsed on them in Khavda, Kutch district, Gujarat, police said Saturday.
The incident occurred at a mining site between 6 and 7 p. m. on Friday, when a 50-foot-high stone wall fell on a JCB and a truck, Khavda police sub-inspector Dharmendrasinh Vaghela said. “Three other people were trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations began around 8 p. m. of the sick were discharged at 3 p. m. m. of Saturday,” he said.
One of the deceased was driving a JCB, while the others were repairing a vehicle parked nearby when the wall collapsed on them, he said.
The victims, Ashok Patel, Gajendra Kaul and Jaysinh, were from Madhya Pradesh, the official said, adding that the incident was caught on CCTV cameras.
