During the presentation of the Tour de France teams, André Greipel and Dan Martin of Israel Start-Up Nation leveled on the new Factor road bikes, which Cyclingnews sees as the new Ostro VAM Factor.
The motorcycle in question is undeniably aerodynamic in its design, sharing features with other aerodynamic offerings such as the new Aeroad Canyon, also highlighted the presentation of the Tour team under the direction of Alejandro Valverde.
Cyclingnews a gallery of Factor One Disc through Andre Greipel, the brand’s existing aerodynamic bike, from the Tour Down Under in January. The bike’s disc brakes and the double-tube diagonal frame design made it one of the worldTour’s heaviest bikes with 7.88 kg.
This new aerodynamic motorcycle appears to have disposed of the diagonal double tube design and, perhaps in a revealing way, carries the V.A.M designation on the most sensitive tube. V.A.M means average ascent speed – or average ascent speed – and for apparent reasons, it is a term related to climbing bikes, not aerodynamic motorcycles. It is also the nickname given to the brand’s lightweight O2 VAM factor.
With the team’s GC leader, Dan Martin, on the bike, does this mean that it has been reducing the weight of its aerodynamic offering, following the recent global trend of the best of two aerodynamic motorcycles requirements of the UCI of assembly? Weight limit of 6.8 kg?
If we see Dan Martin on board the bike in the mountain stages of the route, we’ll know they did. However, if you return to the O2 VAM Factor when the road goes up, it will be prudent for the new Ostro Factor to be more aerodynamic reserved for sprinters and flat or rugged terrain.
