Proposals to bring more than 70 new homes to Comber in County Down have received the green light.

Lotus Homes is behind the development, which is set to provide 72 new homes on Killinchy Road.

The development proposes a variety of 4-bed and 5-bed detached house types and sizes, which are designed to be used by families.

Lotus’ plans include the provision of two large areas of open space, with each home possessing its own private garden.

Each property will have at least two in-curtilage car parking spaces, with visitor parking also provide on the street within the site.

Measuring approximately 13.5 acres, the application site is currently part of a larger agricultural field, with it being surrounding by residential areas.

A report that was scrutinised by Ards and North Down Borough Council recommended that the application be given the green light.

It said: “The proposal complies with planning policy and will respect the character and residential amenity of the area and will not prejudice road safety or significantly inconvenience the flow of traffic.”

The scheme has now been approved.
