A stepped structure along a street inside the Thermal Club, in Thermal, California, might seem unrelated to GMG Racing’s modified 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 in the paddock, but it’s not. I watch, helmet in hand, the sturdy GT3, wrapped in a Shark Blue wizard cape, warm up in the pit lane before shouting around the track with a fellow car journalist at the wheel. Then I did some reconnaissance laps with James Sofronas, founder of Global Motorsports Group (GMG) and its racing division, before I had my own chance to go it alone.
Refined to offer maximum functionality both on the road and on the track, this updated 911 GT3 is a control box for portion development, crafting each and every concept developed through Sofronas and his team. Founded through Sofronas in 2001, GMG operates from a square-foot facility in Santa Ana, approximately 210 km from the coast.
