Consumer data and analytics company J.D.Power recently launched the effects of its 2020 logo loyalty study, which classifies leading automakers into visitor loyalty. Among the effects is the ranking of the GMC logo, which is at the bottom of the list in this year’s study.
Using the knowledge gathered through the Power Information Network, J.D.Power tested the number of vehicle owners who purchased the same vehicle logo when purchasing or exchanging a new style. The exam gathered knowledge from June 2019 to May 2020, taking into account all cars in the style year. Based on this information, J.D.Power then calculated percentages for each automotive logo, with higher percentages indicating greater visitor retention. This year is examining the momently edition of J.D. Power Brand’s loyalty.
The results were divided into two categories, mass market brands and luxury brands, with GMC first. Of the 19 customer brands studied, GMC ranked 13th with a score of 39%.
Most sensible on the list, Subaru with a score of 60.5%, followed by Toyota with 60.3% and Honda with 58.7%. The last 3 brands come with Dodge with 17.8%, Chrysler with 14.1% and Fiat with 10.4%.
GMC’s positioning at position 13 puts him above Buick, who received 27.5%, and below Mazda, which received 40.7%. Meanwhile, Chevrolet did a little more in the studio, with a seventh position and a score of 49.1%.
General Motors also ranked on the list of luxury brands through Cadillac, which ranked tenth among the thirteen brands studied with a score of 33.8%.
“Automakers are actually aimed at visitor loyalty, as evidenced by the payment plans and incentives they’ve been providing since the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tyson Jominy, J.D. Power’s vice president of knowledge and research. “Many have gone above and beyond to provide monetary assistance to consumers in an era of economic uncertainty, which is greatly contributing to strengthening visitor confidence in the selected logo and repurchase it in the future.”

I think. They feed you a line of BS as long as they can and then tell you that each and every one of them are working as planned. My Yukon Denali Ultimate four – four 2020 hurts my head, my wife and I every time we drive because of the strain it causes. Like a broken window or something. I told them about it with 50 miles and after several trips to the dealership, GM said he was sorry, but it’s designed to be horrible. There are almost a thousand pages in GMTruck’s forums on this challenge and I’ve heard it. But we bought a new Denali (which includes 1500, 2500 and Yukon) every 2 years for 10 years. No more after that. For the charge and our smart reports with some other brand, we will definitely leave GM.
I’m sure GM said that.
They did the same thing to me … even the “It works as expected” line, even though it’s obviously a challenge they just chose to ignore.
I worked as a technician at a GM agency for years. Once you recognize the problem, the rider only has a limited number of visits to fix the vehicle. If it’s a new logo model, it can be tricky to deal with random noises or driving problems. And don’t make technicians pay a flat fee, fix their minor inconveniences on a lease is worthless. Spending four or five hours fixing a rattle to get paid 0.7 hours isn’t going to feed the kids.
You’re right, Tom!
As I have been for years now!
How and why?
What it’s like to let the broker manipulate the customer’s voice! And the tech voice!
Look at the unwanted speed GM 8!! THERE IS NO WAY the client, runner or technician can win!
Unless the three of you face GM together, and GM knows it’s never going to happen, everyone needs a percentage of the dollar, and GM has already had theirs first!
Even if you leave, GM was given his dollar, the broker was given his dollar, the visitor got fucked, the collection of the technology fucked up, the bank got fucked.
If the customer, who up, and the dealer, who up, and the technician, who up, and the bank, who up, to oppose GM, GM would be forced to repair the defect of his vehicle, or go bankrupt again.
And I know this is the trajectory we’re on, again!
Collective action, after collective action, strike after strike, trial, after trial, and everyone has one thing in common!
GM and cheap, defective, undesirable!
Yes! GM gets rid of the GMC logo because it would charge more for equipping two trucks. If you need to sell more Ford on trucks, simply opt for Chevy’s nameplate. Plus, you don’t see any gmc in the Nascar truck series! Every man from Chevys!
From a 2015 GMC Land lease to a 2017 GMC Acadia Limited lease that ends next fall. Where do you sign up for GMC?
That doesn’t surprise me. As an unwavering GM fan for a long time, I only buy your trucks today because I use the paint truck and have had a GM truck, and I will do it until I die. An unwavering truck fan since 1976.
It’s been about 10 years since I had a GM car/SUV.
For what? Because it is transparent you were given more for your cash and a much higher quality of internal fabrics in the maximum of other cars.
GM is now the king of plastic interiors.
Wait for kool aid drinkers to interfere and disagree, however, the facts about logo loyalty are difficult to discuss.
Take an internal look and generation of the Subaru Outback … Array. What GM has now compared to this is in the Cadillac.
Some of your electric cars look sharp, let’s hope they reverberate inside.
GM can recover … Matrix verification, if KIA/Hyundai can go from a joke to a top-notch lopass in 10 years, then GM can also do it.
Oh seriously? I like my 2018 Chev Equinox. I would love to hear from others in the GMC Terrain and Chev Equinox: I’ve had a lot of cars since the 1960s and it’s one of the most productive cars I’ve ever had.
You have an Outback Limited 2020 in April. Now that you’ve updated the infotainment system firmware, it works great. Apple CarPlay Portrait is amazing. Although I haven’t driven it much, I’m very inspired by the quality, end and silence of the car. My first Subaru and so far I really like it. Now to see how snow handles in winter ?
But the question is whether they will.
I went to see what the Dodge Laramie Longhorn looked like. I’ll drive a Dodge 2021 later! There’s no comparison, many more for my money.
Sad that GM has become so disconnected from its customers. There’s a lot of room for improvement, that’s for sure.
I went from a 2007 LBZ Duramax, with over 140,000 miles, and zero troubles ! Hands down the BEST, Greatest GM truck I have ever owned ! I have only owned GM trucks for 39 years now.
I too have a 2015 GMC Canyon, 3.6 with the 6 speed !
My GMC 2018 Acadia has no problems, works very well, has the right fuel economy for what it is and tows a trailer like a freight train. A forged and well-built SUV, which will get my acquisition repeated for some other GMC.
Meh, I had a Sierra but I saw it was no better than the Silverado. I just refuse to pay more for a rebadged Chevy.
That’s $2. GM has to build only the fastest promotional items. A model. It may not be what the visitor wants, but hey, “take it or leave it.” It’s all based on its back line. It’s no longer about satisfying the visitor, it’s a quick rotation for him.
Many No. 2 are distributors who don’t know how to buy things. The equinox and the terrain lose 2.0 because none of them are bought.
I agree about #1. I want a 3.45 axle without being forced to order a tow package I don’t want. It improves drive-ability, and yet does nothing bad to the gas mileage. The 3.08 does great on the treadmill test but makes for a gutless truck.
GM wants to concentrate as other FCA does. GMC is expected to pass after Ram and Jeep. Chevy deserves to happen after Dodge and Chrysler. Leave redundant vehicles.
Turns out GM’s with his marks.
This is a marvel since only the Yukon, Savana and Sierra are the only nameplates of 2000. GMC has the lowest logo price for GM.
I have owned and purchased GM for 30 years, adding several new trucks, 5-speed Beretta, Alero, Ram Air WS6 formula, etc. My wife needs to upgrade her ATS 2015 coupe, well, GM no longer builds coupes unless the shrimp and corvette. They also do not manufacture popular short cabin boxes (saw or silverado) for North America, as they manufacture/sell them for other countries (Saudi Arabia and Mexico). I can’t even order one. They cite CAFE and don’t request it, however, here’s Ford with a redesign for 2021 and have a 6’6″ Reg cab on the list, you can get it with a 395 hp V8 and even a 10-speed. More GM sales stolen here. Obviously, GM is attacking easy-to-sell fruit, it’s like they don’t need anyone to buy their vehicles. It’s working.
Dodge Ram Sales 2 Ford and in front of Chevy. Ram’s going to have a 550HP style next year, I think. I’m not a truck driver yet, I like GMC. The CFA will take the Ram to a new level, I think.
Two things in play. One the Terrain took a big hit with the remake. Two most GMC models have gone up in price and the division works for profit not volume.
It remains GM’s top successful division.
Ford and Ram both are offering major discounts and need the high volumes to make money Chevy uses the same tactic.
That’s not true, according to the Detroit Free Press, the Ford F-150 has the highest average transaction value of any full-size truck. Ford is also the stingiest with discounts. The same GM Authority online page reported that GM filed exceptionally higher discounts in January at the GMC. Executive Director Mary Barra called a convention. It’s the same thing Ram ordered in 2019 and GM did in 2020.
It’s low because other people will buy a gmc, trade it for a Chevy (essentially they’re essentially the same) or maybe they’re going to like this new Buick in the showroom next to their gmc, so they’re passing to move on to Buick’s. That’s why GM is the only thing that doesn’t actually apply to this study.
I love my 2018 Chevy Colorado and 2016 GMC Canyon. Both are solid trucks with plenty of power and I will be sticking with GM for my next round of trucks. I use to be a Ford guy and Chevy brought me over to the dark side. The interiors are being updated so I am happy they are addressing my only complaint. The new Tahoe looks great inside and out and I am glad the Silverado will be updating its interior soon as well.
Good thing Fiat and Subaru got out when they did from GM. Look at them now, before they were run into the ground like profitable Saturn and other brands under them.
I’m not sure Fiat is the most productive example you’re looking to discuss. They are the last in terms of reliability and are about to leave the U.S. market for the time being.
I’ve already said about GM, they just don’t have a long-term plan for branded products.
Although I prefer GMC’s look to the Chevrolet, I would have bought a Chevrolet if I was offered the seats and didn’t offer GMC at all.
However, what GM offers is a reasonable Chevrolet vehicle, “everyone” in ALL of its vehicles, they simply rate you more for a plastic adhesive plate!
Well, GM will fix it or continue to be smaller and lose more valuable money, this procedure would be faster, if GM just had a way to talk directly to the customer, and not let the broker manipulate the customer’s voice!
What? After driving a 2013 GMC Terrain that surely wasn’t a challenge and, frankly, a perfect vehicle, I intended to continue my luck with a new one. But during that time, they had rid they of two cylinders. Not for me. So, my choice is an Acadia SLT2 2019. After almost 2 years of that, I can say, “some other perfect vehicle.” Solid, great style, comfortable, smart utility, excitement and driving challenge (unless you want to replace this rear windshield blade). I’ll buy another one in a minute.
For GMC enthusiasts, GMC and Cadillacs use Chevy engines.
No matter the logo of their vehicles, they can bring back Pontiac and Oldsmobile, the fact is that there is nothing they have done in the last ten years that can cope with what they have built before. Today, everything is cosmetic and electronic and has little or no price after a few years, which really counts no longer exists. I was a great GM assistant, but for the last ten years I have lost all respect for the logo, the company and its vehicles, especially its service and visitor support teams, all of which lie. I have a Buick Enclave 2011 and, 98,000 km at the end of 2019, the engine shuts down smoothly for a distribution chain challenge, four calls to my sales representative, 8 calls to the service and 6 other calls to GM Canada, and all that was given there were almost no return calls and how little I did Array I was sent to other people who could help. GM is aware of the challenge and has known it since 2009 and to this day continues to produce the same engine, regardless of its history. The car is priced with an ebook of $2000.00 and the solution will charge me $8000.00 without any help from them. I gave them another chance in 2016 when I needed a new truck, so I bought a Year Savana style of the 2five00 series, ended up being a nightmare, I brought it five times with several calls before explaining other challenges. one of his mechanics traveled in the vehicle to identify the challenge. Array, the service manager rejected the claim and only erased the PC and restarted it, and today I still drive with a soft engine and a soft airbag, my dashboard is filled with water dripping from somewhere around the windshield, and all the controls and heating ducts simply fell from the pilot’s cockpit when I hit a lump after the first year. My 200five Chevy Express 2five00 was ten times the truck that will ever be and I regret getting rid of it, but 2016 will also be the last year GM will get another penny from this family. I’ll buy a new NIGHT of SUV, but my feet will never walk on GM soil again.
It’s pretty sure every car today has all that. Some of them are pretty cool. The rear cameras of the trucks, now I’m a farmer and I know how to hook a trailer, but they did the simple and foolproof task, you just have to faint to adjust the latch and plug it in. Navigation, blutooth, android/apple play, amy music you need is available. I think it’s quite the opposite, there were no trucks so smart in the 80s and 90s, even in the early 2000s. Therefore, the new material is in fact remarkable in terms of safety, comfort and comfort. Especially as a cooler and warmer seat this hot summer.
Sorry for typos, hard to read rhese small letters
I traded in my 2016 GMC Terrain Denali for a 2020 GMC Acadia Denali. Although the Terrain was flawless, I needed 3rd row seating. Love the Acadia. The 9 Speed tranny makes a huge difference. Only 4 months old but I hope to have no problems in the future since this may be the last car I buy at my senior age.
$8000 to install a new distribution line on a 3.6 LLT V6! You’ll communicate better with some other broker because they rate you 3 times more than that task would cost. Tip: an independent would be even cheaper, but let’s say about 1000 or less! And the 3.6 engine was redesigned in LFX and LGX since 2012 and doesn’t have that problem, so GM didn’t continue to create the same trouble-prone engine.
