In Canada, the Sierra EV will debut in 2025, in two years.
GMC finally brought the next electric edition of its Sierra pickup truck on October 20, after hosting a test event we attended in the Detroit area.
October 20 was not only the official public unveiling of the model, but also when GMC opened the e-book of orders for it.
The first style to be released, the Denali Edition 1, only made it to the US market; it will also be the only Sierra EV sold by 2024, as the rest of the Sierra EV lineup, which will also be available with Elevation and AT4 trim levels, will be available by 2025. That’s when Canada gets the first units.

In the near future, GMC showed that its order book has already closed. In other words, the company has received equivalent orders for all the games it thinks it can deliver.

The Carscoops online page was the first to report the end of orders, and GMC showed it. The automaker added that the only solution for those who need a vehicle is to sign up for the waiting list. This will be to get a later style or hopefully you will get full benefits from a cancellation. Keep in mind that other people only had to pay a $100, fully refundable deposit to reserve a Sierra EV.
Given existing market conditions, no one holds their breath waiting for cancellations. And, as GMC also discovered, other people no longer seem too hesitant to invest $100,000 in a vehicle, especially if it’s electric. Duncan Aldred, head of GMC and Buick, told Automotive News:
“It’s pretty amazing. A few years ago, when we were making plans for Hummer, the number of cars sold above $100,000 across the industry wasn’t that high. Now, that has dramatically replaced over the past 3 years. There has been immediate construction, an increase in vehicle costs and an even faster accumulation in the high range. We hope to sell very quickly.

As for the number of models reserved, GMC remained silent, Aldred showed that the total was less than 10,000.
All of this will be pending, especially considering that Chevrolet already has 110,000 reserves for the Sierra EV’s cousin, the Silverado EV.
