Just under three months ago, but actually a lifetime, one of the ads aired the Super Bowl, General Motors took a first look at the Hummer EV, a very promising electric van recently in progress at GMC.
The so-called Hummer, although it was dragged through the dust 10 years ago, remains strong among many fans. But where he once represented dirty oil, he is asked to redeem himself by symbolizing the transfer to the van’s electric power.
A stroke of GM genius, frankly.
Now it turns out that the Hummer’s resurrection will have to wait. The style that will be presented on 20 May, but unsurprisingly, the existing pandemic forced the truck to be postponed. A new date has not yet been proposed, but the department promises that the paintings on the truck will continue.
“As we look forward to the GMC Hummer EV appearing in the world, we will postpone the May 20 release date. Meanwhile, the team’s progression paintings continue on the right path and undeterred. We invite you all to be vigilant to be more informed about the capacity of this super truck before its official debut ».
– GMC statement
The news is that the production schedule for the model remains unchanged. For now, it appears that the company is sticking to the original plan for the vehicle to reach dealerships in 2021 as a 2022 model, coinciding with the arrival of other electric vans, adding those from Tesla.
However, since no camouflaged prototype has yet given the impression on online espionage plans, it is not certain that the postponement of the presentation will also lead to production delays, despite the optimism shown through GMC in its statement.
Meanwhile, GMC has produced a short teaser video, offering a panoramic view of the new Hummer traveling along a trail in the woods. Designed to whet the appetite but reveal little, the video shows the style also to provide main points about the vehicle. However, we believe that we can discern that we see a glass ceiling, which can mean the presence of a detachable roof as advised by past data circulating about the characteristics of the style.
As for the rest, it’s clear the coronavirus is going to dictate what happens next. Around the industry, some launches and projects have been outright cancelled, and everything suggests that others will suffer the same fate before we see the end of this pandemic.
Stay tuned.
