The GMC Hummer EV will make its full debut this fall. Unfortunately, the company will still provide an accurate date for the premiere. The highly anticipated electric van will begin production about a year later, in the fall of 2021.
GMC plans to offer the Hummer EV at an online event, but it turns out that the presentation may be more than the popular live stream. “We’ll use real virtual and augmented technologies to tell our story,” GM CEO Mary Barra said in a radio interview in June.
The sale of the Hummer EV in the fall of 2021 means that the van can arrive at about the same time as the Tesla Cybertruck and even surpass it in the market. We can’t wait to see how they compare.
The Hummer EV will produce more than 1000 horsepower (745 kilowatts) and can travel 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in approximately 3 seconds. The release date announcement also states that the truck is capable of “remarkable features on and off the road.”
The powertrain will use General Motor’s new Ultium batteries, which can have capacities ranging from 50 kilowatt hours to two hundred kWh. Level 2 and DC fast charging capacity of up to 350 kilowatts deserves to allow fairly fast recharge.
A review of the taste of the van indicates that it has a chiselled and physically powerful appearance. The six-tablet grille creates a design link with previous Hummers. A high-tech cockpit includes giant virtual displays for tools and information and entertainment. There are also detachable ceiling panels that allow occupants to drive outdoors in the electric vehicle when the weather permits.
After a $2.2 billion review to a center for the production of electric vehicles, the site will produce the Hummer EV. The next Cadillac electric cars will come from there, too.
