It’s no longer a secret that Hummer’s call is coming back, and it’s also widely known that it will take the form of an all-electric pickup truck and almost with a GMC badge on the back. Today, General Motors’ trucking department showed the news: the so-called Hummer will revive next year and run on an electric powertrain.
The manufacturer has released four short videos that it will feature during Super Bowl LIV next Sunday. We’re most interested, however, in the technical data announced: 1,000 hp, 11,500 pound-feet of torque and a 0-97 km/h time of 3 seconds. Fans won’t have to wait long either. The product will be unveiled in May, according to the automaker’s announcement.
GMC has revealed nothing more about the Hummer, which will go on sale in the fall of 2021, but has shown it will be a truck. The Hummer’s front grille, shown in all 4 videos, retains much of the brand’s distinctive look that was known before closing in 2010. A GMC lopass looks under the soft, giant grille on the tow hooks. Please note that it is smaller than the Hummer. However, GM has demonstrated that hummer designation will be used in equivalent with the Sierra and other nameplates within the GMC family.

The newly provided strength and functionality figures do not fit any industry product and highlight the functions that an electric power train can offer. GMC did not specify whether this technical knowledge will be the same for each variant. In fact, at this point, we have no idea what diversity will look like. We will also have to wait before we get a tariff concept.
GMC said in a statement that the electric Hummer will be built at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which will commit itself only to the structure of cars and electrical components. The plant is also expected to produce a Cadillac SUV, the long-term vehicle that will upgrade the Chevrolet Bolt and others. A battery plant announced last year, located in Youngstown, Ohio, could serve the Hummer.
The Hummer will be performed on May 20.
