GM unveils all-electric Cadillac Lyriq SUV

(RTTNews) – Cadillac, General Motors’ prestige sport-luxury vehicle brand, unveiled its all-electric Cadillac Lyriq sports utility vehicle (SUV) during an online live stream event on Thursday. The Lyriq show car, as it is called, is the first introduction of Cadillac’s electric portfolio, 111 years after it was acquired by GM.

Lyriq is expected to enter overdue production in 2022 as a 2023 vehicle at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck meeting facility in Michigan. The all-electric luxury SUV will drive over the new GM BEV3 platform and sits between the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 in size.

Founded on GM’s next-generation modular electric vehicle platform, the Lyriq is powered by the Ultium propulsion formula or the lithium-ion battery formula to deliver approximately one hundred kilowatt hours of power for a variety of diversity and functionality options. It will offer a diversity of three hundred miles on a full load, based on Cadillac testing.

The Lyriq will have a variety of charging options, adding DC fast charging rates of more than 150 kilowatts and point 2 load rates up to 19 kW. It is basically operated through the rear wheels with a single electric motor fixed on the rear of the vehicle. A high-performance all-wheel drive option is also available.

In addition, the battery’s electronic components are incorporated directly into the smart battery modules, eliminating nearly 90% of the battery pack wiring compared to GM’s existing electric vehicles.

The exterior of the Lyriq is explained through stretched lines and blank surfaces, with a low and fast roof line and a wide position that emphasizes agility and transmits confidence.

It also has a unique “black glass” grille on the front that throws a “salute” with a choreographed series and a thin and unique vertical LED as the owner approaches.

The vehicle also features a giant complex 33-inch diagonal LED demonstration panel. It is the organization of the driver data indicator and camera views, such as the central information and entertainment display, as the OLED unit discovered in the new Cadillac Escalade 2021. It can demonstrate more than one billion colors, 64 times more than any other vehicle in the automotive industry.

With its exclusive partnership with AKG, Cadillac will offer a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio formula in Lyriq that delivers exceptionally crisp and accurate sound reproduction, allowing drivers and passengers to listen to their favorite music.

Cadillac is motors’ luxury sports car brand, sold in North America, China, Korea, Europe and the Middle East.
