For years, Hummer has been a favorite target of environmental groups. Now, a new Bloomberg report raises the option that the call soon become the best friend of the eco-friendly vehicle movement.
According to the report, General Motors is exploring the option to retrieve the name, but this type is associated with a diversity of luxury electric cars intended for off-road driving. Before the logo was suspended in 2009 after GM’s bankruptcy, the company had brought the HX concept vehicle, a possible rival to the Jeep Wrangler. And one of the topics of promotion is its small environmental footprint.
In addition, the concept of generating a competitor for the Wrangler continues at GM, as we recently reported. Therefore, the concept of Hummers with electric motor that appears sometime in the short and long term is rarely, after all.
In fact, there are some Hummer H3 PHEV on North American roads, as versions specially modified through the corporate Raser. The company tried unsuccessfully to get the call from Hummer in 2009.
General Motors first took over the call in 1998.
