Ghost motorcycle monument revealed by cyclist killed in Longueuil this summer

Friends and family circle of René Tremblay, 52, piled up at a memorial on Saturday afternoon where he struck and killed through a vehicle three months ago.

On the night of July 23, Tremblay cycled through a designated point crossing on Jacques-Cartier Boulevard in Longueuil when he fatally collided with a car.

A white ghost motorcycle installed in his honor next to the site, near a cross erected by Tremblay’s family.

This is the first ghost motorcycle installed on montreal’s south coast, according to organizers, who say there have been 11 monuments in Montreal since 2013.

Tremblay’s brother Fabien told CBC that visibility at the crosswalk on the motorcycle trail is very low at night and that he did something about it.

He hopes the city of Longueuil will install more lighting to prevent another turn of fate like this in the future.

“It’s dark here, ” he said. The Gentiles, don’t appease each other at night. “

If the crosswalk is made safer, he said, his brother’s death “will be in vain. “

“I come here every day to pray by the cross I made here for my brother.

During the commemorative event, the contributed threw white balloons into the air after a moment of silence.

Maxime Juneau-Hotte, spokesman for the ghost motorcycle group, said cyclists are not necessarily on the roads, even when employing city-designated motorcycle lanes.

The organization is also pushing for Longueuil to improve motorcycle lane network protection from similar incidents.
