Rochdale Foodbank bought a van thanks to a charitable donation of 5,000 euros from Countryside.
The donation was made as one of Manchester’s 8 largest organizations, and Rochdale Foodbank’s directors used the budget as the main contribution to the purchase of a pickup truck.
Steve Field, administrator and volunteer, said: “We need to gather giant donations from a variety of supporters, as well as move food between our store and our main site in South Parade.
“In the past, we’ve been very grateful for RRG Peugeot who lent us a loose van, but this will make our lives less difficult now that we have our own vehicle.
Local company Hanson Springs, which has long supported Rochdale Foodbank, has generously introduced itself to sponsor taxes and truck insurance.
Gordon Innes, Managing Director of Manchester and Cheshire East Partnerships, Countryside said: “We are committed to making an investment in our communities and they want ours more than ever.” The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has made life much more complicated for many other local people. and charities that have donations.
“On behalf of me and the rest of the team, we hope that this budget will allow these organizations to continue their important work.”
