General Motors and Honda are partnering in North America with some goals in mind, namely charge savings and long-term vehicle development.
Corporations announced Thursday that they signed a non-binding MEMORANDUM of Understanding to verify the construction of an automotive alliance in North America.As a component of this alliance, corporations expect to paint in combination in the shopping, study and development spaces, hooked.and the creation of a variety of cars to be sold under the respective Honda and GM brands.
Joint engineering will begin early next year and will come with the exchange of non-unusual vehicle platforms that will add internal and electrified combustion engines.This will result in “substantial savings,” GM said in its statement.
“This would allow GM and Honda to invest more in complex and next-generation technologies,” he said.
GM and Honda started operating in combination more than 20 years ago.Recent joint projects include fuel cells, batteries and autonomous cars.Thursday’s MEMORANDUM of Understanding extends an earlier agreement in April to create two new all-electric Hondas built with GM’s Ultium battery.motorized platform.
The new GM-Honda alliance is the Ford-Volkswagen alliance announced in 2019, according to which Ford would build an all-electric car on the Volkswagen Modular Electric Toolkit EV platform starting in 2023.
