Fundraiser Showcases Rare and Classic Cars to Help Future Professional Installation Projects in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Community Hot Rod Project has kicked off its 2024 Santa Barbara County Auto Show at full speed.

It is planned from a weekend of activities adding 3 activities in two days.

On Saturday morning, there will be a 200-mile rally followed by the Auto Expo gala with the Speak-Easy theme.

On Sunday, the Auto Expo will take place on the lawn of Santa Barbara City College’s West Campus. It costs $10 for adults and $5 for youth as part of a fundraiser. Every segment of the lawn will be filled.

“It’s going to be a very eclectic variety of cars, everything to everyone,” said Kevin Haeberle of the Community Hot Ro Project.

The profits from this occasion will be donated to the association’s goal: to open a vocational training center. The location is lately in the vacant hangars of the Santa Barbara airport. The plan has already been presented to the Santa Barbara Airport Commission and the City Council.

A career center would meet several objectives. It would be a matter of restoring the western general hangars of the 30s. It would be a matter of creating an automobile and aviation museum. It would be above all a professional education about the automobile that would be presented to all ages. The skills can direct young people toward jobs in the automotive or aerospace industries, as well as many similar professional jobs.

Hosting the Auto Expo 2024 event this weekend at Santa Barbara City College is also a great fit for the school campus, the Expo, and the Community Hot Rod Project. “They teach automotive here on campus and we need to collaborate with them long-term with our program and expand our capabilities,” Haeberle said.
