Frozen Food Delivery Company Closes New York City Locations

They have been in New York for decades.   You know them by another name, but they close centers and soon lay off workers.

When we were kids, we enjoyed when those trucks arrived.   Not only did they bring amazing food, but more importantly, they brought ice.   From cones and novelties to what we call bombs.   They were better in the summer.

They were known as Schwan’s when he was a child and their pickups may be discovered all over Western New York.   Everyone had a “Schwan boy. “

In 2022, Schwan made a rebranding effort.   They used “Yelloh” in a nod to the yellow trucks they drove and also as a little slang for the word “bonjour”.

“Building private connections between our workers and the communities we serve has set us apart for seven decades and is our greatest merit in the highly competitive food delivery market. “- Joe Kirby, President and CEO of Yelloh

They have focused on Minnesota from the beginning and will continue to operate in 18 states.   However, today’s announcement that jobs will be cut and some places in New York State will be closed.   Buffalo Business First says this will come with the Jamestown location.

In a statement, they cited economic headwinds, startup prices and the truth of the global post-pandemic as reasons why they would cut 750 jobs nationally and close 90 delivery centers.

Closures will begin on December 8.
