A program that offers mobile homeowners loose nights in car parks in the north and northeast can be made permanent to manage the abundance of cars in the area.
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) developed the “Stay the Night” program this summer when the closure sparked a wave of tourists to dominance in Scotland, while many official campsites were closed or full.
FLS now maintains the policy it has implemented at 27 sites across the country, adding 10 in highlands, one in Aberdeenshire, 3 in Moray and six in Argyll and Bute.
Motorhomes and motorhomes with their own restrooms were allowed to park overnight as a component of a short-term national trial to give FLS the practicalities of providing this long-term service.
Places could not be booked in advance and campers were asked not to return to them within 48 hours.
Visitors had to stay loose between 6 p. m. and 10 a. m. and said to leave at least 12 feet between them and their neighbor.
Camping was allowed in general and night parking.
The sites have been promoted to potential consumers through the Professional Association of Motorhomes and Motorhomes and related websites.
Originally, the program was extended until August, but lasted due to the popular call and at the request of some local companies.
FLS juggles the possible move with the preference of not having an effect on the profits of local camps in the hope of encouraging others to pay for the night.
A FLS spokesman added: “We are aware that the motorhome and motorhome sector is vital for Scottish tourism and that there is a demand in the informal stopover market in addition to the more formal camp offering.
“During this exceptional year, the call for motorhomes and motorhomes exceeded the availability of the site in much of the country and we felt that this could solve this problem. “
Participating sites were selected for the highest point of caravan traffic affecting nearby communities and a call to avoid points.
FLS evaluates the program, with 1,000 investigations returned to date.
The spokesman said: “We are only in the early stages of the evaluation procedure and we will have finished it until early next year. “
“The delight of this year’s trial will be helpful for all parties to talk about this during the winter, so that it could be a suitable path for 2021 and beyond. “
