ISLAMABAD: At least four more people were killed on Sunday when a car carrying a relative fell into a deep ravine in Lower Chitral.
According to Rescue 1122, the pickup truck was traveling from Lower Chitral to Upper Chitral when the driver lost the vehicle due to heavy rain. The pickup plunged into a deep ditch on a narrow road, killing four other people and rescuing three others.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and transferred the bodies of the deceased and injured to the hospital in the district capital.
In an earlier incident, at least thirteen people, mostly women and children, were killed and four others injured when a passenger jeep plunged into the icy Neelum River at the top of the Neelum Valley.
The twist of fate occurred around 11 a. m. when the jeep went off the road and fell into the river. Among the deceased are 4 women and 3 children.
Upon receiving the report, the emergency temporarily arrived at the scene and began a rescue operation. The bodies were transported to a morgue for forensic procedures and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
