Formula E and ProSiebenSat.1 reach agreement on German rights

German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has been granted the open-streaming rights (FTA) of the All-Electric Formula E racing series as part of a multi-year agreement from 2021.

From the beginning of your contract, ProSiebenSat.1 will stream all races through its flagship Sat.1 channel, as well as the production of Formula E content and non-live electric mobility on its channels.

Although the terms of the deal have not been revealed, Germany has proven to be a vital market for the series, while Berlin is the only city hosting races in each and every Formula E season since its inception in 2014.

Having been forced to postpone its current 2019/20 season in March, Formula E resumed in Berlin this month to close the crusade with six races in days at the Tempelhof airport site.

Many of the players in the series are also from Germany, Allianz, BMW i, Bosch, DHL and Hugo Boss. Four of the brands on the Formula E, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche grid are German.

As we enter our first season as the FIA World Championship, this partnership will ensure That Formula E reaches the widest German audience imaginable.

Sat.1 sports director Alexander Rasner said: “Formula E already offers exciting races at this point and will be an official FIA World Championship starting in 2021.

“Our team of runners is very happy to accompany and shape this desirable long-term sustainable motorsport trail and to give Formula E, as a series of long-term races, a position on flexible German television.”

Stefan Zant, Managing Director of 7Sports, the umbrella corporation in the sports division of ProSiebenSat, 1 added: “Electric mobility is an absolute long-term issue and the example of our strategy not only to obtain new rights, but also to build cutting-edge issues on the long term.-term.

The transmission rights of Formula E in Germany are lastly carried out through the pan-European broadcaster Eurosport, which broadcasts races in 54 markets, as part of a three-year agreement that expires signed in 2017.
