Ford warns that “phone as key” may not work on some Android phones

While some users are experiencing problems, Ford states that their “telephone as key” characteristic is experiencing compatibility problems in Android devices.

In an email to customers, Ford warns that Android users may encounter problems with “phone as a key,” as it allows users to unlock their vehicle without a key fob. The security service, known as Ford, is assigned through “a recent Android 14 software update,” leaving the FordPass app unable to reliably unlock vehicles.

There’s no express explanation for which update is causing challenges, which is in fact because Android 14 has been widely available for the most productive part of the year right now on devices from various Android brands. Presumably, the challenge is in the app rather than the operating system, but it’s hard to say anything for sure.

If lately it is a device that runs the Android 14 operational formula and drives a Ford vehicle, the phone as a key feature in its FordPass application would possibly be affected lately.

Due to a recent Android 14 software update, some users are unable to access or turn on their Ford car phone as a key feature of their FordPass app.

You paint in a third-party solution, and we’ll update it once the scenario is resolved. Meanwhile, to start your vehicle, use your shovel rack or your backup rack.

We regret this disadvantage and appreciate your patience. Do not delete or reset your phone as a key, as either action will lock it.

The review sent to an email to Ford customers, as shared in a Facebook group. Users of the post report that in fact, their phone as a key capability has recently encountered problems, but that the main points are not shared.

Hopefully, things will be back up and running soon. If you’ve run into issues, let us know in the comments below!
