Ford Motor Company announced Friday that it has halted shipments of all 2024 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks so the company can perform quality checks for an unspecified issue.
The Detroit-based automaker said the pause in shipments began Feb. 9 and did not specify when it plans to resume shipments of the electric truck that began in January. Ford declined to specify what quality factor is being checked while the order to prevent shipments is being enforced. is in effect, Reuters reported.
A Ford spokesperson told FOX Business that the company began shipping 2024 Lightnings last month, adding, “We plan to ramp up shipments in the coming weeks as we conduct thorough launch quality checks to make sure those new F-150s meet our key criteria. “and delight customers. “
Last month, Ford announced it was cutting production levels of the F-150 Lightning by about half, from the previously planned production rate of 3,200 per week to around 1,600 per week, amid weak demand for electric vehicles in the U. S. U. S. automobile market.
