(CBS DETROIT) — Ford is devising tactics to use olive trees to create auto parts.
The company claims that combining plastic with olive branch fibers produces durable parts and materials.
The researchers make portions from 40% olive fiber and 60% recycled plastic.
This reduces the amount of plastic used in vehicles, reducing Ford’s carbon footprint.
Ford claims that pruning olive trees generates 7 million tons of waste a year.
