Ford GT Heritage Edition 2021 to pay homage to an old-fashioned racing car

The Ford GT40 has created a fairy tale that has truth for an American automaker. A disjointed team faced the world championship and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. But before Le Mans, there was the 24-hour continental race at Daytona. And if you know the story, you’ll know that this marked the GT40’s first victory in endurance racing.

Ford idea it’s time to mark this monumental instance and revealed this Sunday the GT Heritage Edition 2021, which in particular will pay homage to the winning GT40.

Naturally, the Heritage edition carries the original livery and retouching stuff for fashion times. The red and black graphics are covered over an external Frozen White color and have an asymmetrical trend to mimic the 1966 GT40 Mark II that led Ford to victory decades ago. The hood is made of exposed carbon fiber to provide an extra touch of contrast, while the single-block aluminum rims of approximately 20 inches are golden. Of course, cockroach number 98 sits proud at the door as a component of the fashionable livery as well. In fact, exposed carbon fiber appears to re-shape the cockroach.

Ford didn’t let the cockpit leave the party either. The interior features black Alcantara to wrap the dashboard, roof lining and guide wheel, while the red Alcantara reaches the seats. Red seats play with red anodized gear replacement paddles.

However, all of this is just the popular aspect. There will be a Heritage Edition upgrade package that swaps more carbon fiber for a more discreet look. In other words, if the GT never looks sober. The golden wheels don’t look like (but why would you do that?) In favor of carbon fiber wheels and have a bright red body. Brembo’s red brake straps turn black with Brembo red letters in place, and low “98” washers appear on the interior door panels.

Not looking for a GT back? That’s smart because Ford also has some other update for the supercar. The GT Studio Collection package will remain for 40 cars over the next two years and gives shoppers the selection of colors to accentuate the design elements. Seven colors will be standard, however, Ford said the customization will also expand a wider color collection, probably for the correct price.

What’s next? If you do this correctly, production of the GT ends in 2022 and those cars will begin to expand to the final production locations. We believe Ford won’t allow this icon to disappear silently and there’s more to come.
