Car recalls have increased in recent years and the challenge is to disappear soon. The advanced technologies used in automobiles result in more complex units, software errors and new hazards, which in turn leads to a build-up of recalls. Cost-cutting measures through automakers have also led to common recalls. Recently, Ford F issued 3 protective withdrawals in North America.
The first recall concerned 558,610 cars due to a braking problem. The recall refers to ford Edge 2015-2018 and Lincoln MKX 2018 cars. Affected cars are supplied with a front brake jump hose that can break and cause a liquid leak, increasing the threat of an accident. Distributors are able to update the faulty front brake hose hoses and the reference number for this recall is 20S42.
The recall at the time concerned 3597 Lincoln Corsair cars built on the Louisville meeting plant from January 7 to October 21, 2019 to repair a faulty rear coil spring. The coil spring can simply corrode and break before separating from the vehicle, which can cause a twist of fate for the following cars, widening the collision threat. Dealers will read carefully about cars and a new coil spring will be installed, if necessary. The reference number for this withdrawal is 20S41.
The third recall considers some Ford F-150 2020 pickup trucks due to a battery connection problem. The recall reaches 431 cars built at the Kansas City meetinghouse from June 30 to July 1, 2020. Most likely, the affected cars have been manufactured with a lock nut next to the point, which is used to connect the positive battery cable to the starter motor. The faulty lock nut may not provide a secure connection and may not result in the possibility of incremental heat generation, which can also cause a fire. Distributors will update the nut and reference number for this recall is 20S35.
Even last month, the U.S. automaker issued three defense recalls in North America. The first recall concerned 24,584 Lincoln MKX and Nautilus cars due to wiring failures. Another recall concerned 1,330 Ford F-650 and F-750 cars, manufactured without safe thermal coverage components. The third recall concerned 80 Ford Escape and Transit cars due to an airbag issue. The air bag curtain may not inflate properly, which would increase the threat of injury in an accident.
Frequent vehicle recalls pose a major risk to automakers. This not only generates customer confidence in a brand, but also generates significant costs and reduces the vehicle’s resale value.
