The opportunity to own a Lancia Delta Integrale is tempting. The famous Italian rally car is one of the coolest cars of the ’80s and ’90s, so every time the Delta Integrales appear on auction sites, they sell for a lot of money. However, this one could see superior offers to the general ones, as this is not simply another Delta Integrale. This 1992 example for sale on Bring a Trailer comes from the brains of Ralph Gilles, Stellantis’ design director.
Gilles purchased this Delta Integrale Evo 1 in 2018 after importing it from Japan to the United States, through its previous owner. The Evo 1 is a more aggressive, attractive and desirable edition of the popular Delta Integrale, but Gilles changed his to make it even more exciting.
Since Gilles was the owner, he had the engine rebuilt with Colombo cams.
With roughly 63,000 miles on the odometer, Gilles’ Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 is still incredibly fresh, especially after the engine rebuild. Its Rosso Monza paintwork is almost perfect, the interior appearance does not show any signs of wear and tear, and it comes with a long history of maintenance.
When it was original, the Lancia’s turbocharged 2. 0-liter four-cylinder engine produced 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque, but it’s unclear how much it produces now, after its modifications. In the video provided in the listing, you can see Gilles driving the Delta Integrale and he looks amazing. The engine still pulls hard, generating an impressive Group B-style growl, and it turns out to work perfectly.
I don’t think I’ve ever met any car enthusiast who didn’t need to own a Lancia Delta Integrale, especially an Evo 1. However, owning one that in the past was owned by Ralph Gilles and traded in by him is even more special.
