Police arrest a boy and 4 on suspicion of Lee McKnight’s murder

Police have launched a murder investigation after a guy’s body was discovered in a river in Carlisle.

Lee McKnight’s painting, 26, discovered on the Caldew River at Cummersdale’s Blackwell Hall domain around 5.30am on Friday.

A man aged 25 and four women aged 25, 40, 46 and 47 have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Cumbria police said the victim’s circle of relatives had been informed and supported through the circle of family liaison officers.

Officers are “urgently searching” for a black Nissan Navara van registered DV15 TZD, asking members of the public to take the vehicle if they are seen, but to touch the police immediately.

Deputy Chief of Police Andrew Slattery said: “We are asking the public for information in our investigation into the lee McKnight murder.

“Researchers want to hear from anyone, adding friends and affiliates of Lee, who have noticed it or had information about their movements on July 23 and 24, that is, in the Fusehill Street neighborhood.

“Anyone who has noticed anything suspicious in Blackwell Hall’s domain this time deserves to touch the incident room.

“Anyone who has data or may have CCTV, camera on board or any other means of filming the Nissan vehicle or Lee’s movement, that is, in the Blackwell Hall domain in the early hours of July 24, please contact us.”

Anyone can contact the police by calling 101 and asking the North Coast Traffic Protection and Control Team to mention incident number 36 on July 24.
