The Ocean SUV is expected to come first, in 2022, and the company now says it will be followed by the crossover, pick-up truck and “super sports” sedan.
The Fisker Ocean is still on the road, and the start-up of cars is already uttering an expanded diversity with 3 more cars. The 4 cars are expected to enter circulation until 2025, an ambitious plan for a company that is still preparing its first vehicle for production.
Fisker shared a symbol of his Ocean SUV announced in the past in front of 3 other styles: a “super sporty sedan” based on the E-Motion concept, some other crossover style and a truck. The van is still covered with this symbol, however, the company already showed shots of the Alaska van in February. We’ll have to wait and see how it compares to the avalanche of electric vans arriving at the market.
What can give Fisker an advantage in commissioning other cars is that it plans to use VW’s MEB electric vehicle platform. Volkswagen manufactures the battery, platform and electric motors, and Fisker manufactures the bodies. The only challenge is that neither Fisker nor Volkswagen have yet announced a formal agreement. In today’s announcement, Fisker said: “Each vehicle will receive platforms, battery packs, and component systems from the world’s leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
Judging by COMMENTs from CEO Henrik Fisker regarding today’s news, it turns out that the crossover style of the moment may be less expensive than the Ocean, which starts at $37,499. “With our state-of-the-art rental program, we will be able to offer a diverse variety of products to meet a wide variety of consumers in many other budgets,” Fisker said in a statement. This is good news for those who have an electric vehicle with such a long budget, as they are able to wait until 2025.
