NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
The first photographs have been made public of the British tourist who died in a terrible twist of fate with a six-tonne lorry on Valentine’s Day.
Aaron Butcher, 34, posted a Valentine’s Day message to his wife hours before returning by scooter from the beach on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand.
Witnesses said Aaron, from Hammersmith, London, veered into the oncoming lane and crashed into the front of an oncoming Isuzu NLR delivery truck.
The force of the impact sent his motorcycle flying through the air and crashing into a gray Toyota minivan.
Aaron was pronounced dead at the scene from serious head injuries shortly after 5 a. m. local time.
His last online message was: “Wishing my lovely wife a glorious Valentine’s Day. I’ll give you everything you deserve and more. You are my rock and my world. I love you with all my heart. “
Hakam Yuso, a 26-year-old truck driver who shuddered, said: “I was driving from the roundabout towards the beach. I saw the motorcycle get into my lane and hit the front of the truck.
“I didn’t have time to react. I heard a loud noise as the motorcycle crashed into the vehicle and skidded on the road.
“I stopped driving, moved the truck to the side of the road and waited for the ambulance and the police. “
Officers said they are now awaiting the effects of an autopsy to see if Aaron was riding the motorcycle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Lieutenant Colonel Tamen Somrak, the duty officer who attended the twist of fate, said: “The station received a notification from the radio centre at around 5:10 a. m. that there had been a twist of fate involving three vehicles.
“The Briton died when paramedics arrived. His body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy.
“According to the accounts of the two drivers involved, the Briton entered the terrain of the truck coming from the opposite direction and hit it head-on. “
