Federal government investigating protest site after New Jersey employee killed by backhoe

SCOTCH PLAINS – A man was killed in an incident involving heavy machinery during the demolition of a home this week, police said.

On Monday afternoon, a crew ran at the site of a structure in the 2000 block of Mountain Avenue, News 12 reported.

An employee went through the bucket of a backhoe and suffered a serious head injury, NJ. com reported, mentioning the municipal police.

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The employer, Americana Design, has no history with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a federal hard work has confirmed.

As of Wednesday, police had publicly revealed the employee’s identity.

OSHA is now investigating the incident, with six months to finalize its findings.
