Canal Quay is now Brian Conlon House, while Marcus Square will be known as the Conlon Building.

On July 28, to mark the first anniversary of Brian’s death, the company also announced the first recipient of the Spirit Of Brian Conlon Award, an initiative open to all FD employees.

The award recognizes and rewards a worker who embodies Brian’s core values: being a positive corporate citizen, having a hobby for lifelong learning, and focusing on visitor service.

A boy from Newry, Brian, known for his entrepreneurial spirit, drive and ambition. It has made FD a foreign leader in consulting and enterprise software. Brian’s commitment to Newry and Northern Ireland continues to create significant employment opportunities in the region.

In addition, the company’s policy of integrating graduates from all over the world into Newry to begin their careers with extensive education and reveling in paintings has placed Newry and Northern Ireland on the map of the global generation.

Commenting on the initiatives, the Conlon family said: “They are a wonderful and fitting tribute to Brian’s memory.

“First Derivatives is a component of Newry’s fabric that has received alumni, colleagues, consumers and many others from around the world for more than 25 years.

“We are all immensely proud of what Brian has completed and the name of the buildings, adding our head office, and launching the award will be a lasting legacy for the successful business he has created.

Brian, the business in his mother’s guest room in 1996. It now employs more than 2,400 international people and counts among its clients several of the world’s largest investment banks, as well as corporations such as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. Despite a difficult year since Brian’s death, THE continued expansion of FD is a testament to the strength and resilience Brian has instilled in the company and remains critical to FD’s continued success.
