FCA to call Stellantis after merger with PSA in 2021

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Peugeot S.A. together will become “Stellantis” after their merger is complete next year, the companies announced Wednesday.

This is an “important step” as automakers move toward the final touch of their 50-50 marriage described in a December 18 agreement, according to a joint press release. It is expected that everything will be completed by early 2021.

The name, with roots in the Latin verb “stello,” meaning “to brighten with stars,” is inspired by “this new and ambitious alignment of storied automotive brands and strong company cultures that in coming together are creating one of the new leaders in the next era of mobility,” the statement said.

The name pays tribute to the rich history of its founding companies while the evocation of astronomy captures the true spirit of optimism, energy and renewal driving this industry-changing merger, FCA said.

John McElroy, a former industry observer and host of Autoline After Hours, said, “Thank God, FCA and PSA have not made their new call a bite of letters. Stellantis is doing pretty well. Twitter trolls will certainly do it. however, within a year, no one will not even object.”

The two corporations worked in combination with a new call while running with Publicis Groupe. Soon, the company will present its new logo.

However, the names and the logos of the individual brands will remain unchanged. The merger is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2021 if they win shareholder approval.

Another component of ‘Stellantis’ is ‘Stellans’, which ‘starred’ or ‘star-like’ or ‘star-filled’.

Eric Noble, president of design consultan art CarLab in Orange, California, told Free Press: “Consumers care about brands and models they know and are not firm. As long as Jeep, Ram and Dodge remain unchanged. The American customer will never change. even warning. Jeep can’t hurt at this time. Ram is in the chimney in the world of trucks, having necessarily eclipsed GM. Dodge is still a super strong nameplate.”

He added: “No one cared the Daimler-Chrysler for the FCA. So, the next question?”
