A 60-year-old man sitting in his van died after a tree fell on his vehicle in Briarwood on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters say FDNY staff was called to 1four3-20 8fourth Dr. at 1:0 four p.m.August 4 by a van that hit a tree. The incident occurred in the midst of Tropical Storm Isaiah.

On arrival, EMS staff discovered a guy trapped in the 2014 Dodge Van, according to FDNY, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A local resident said she believed the guy was a painter of structures, in paintings on a site of nearby structure.

“He’s running in construction and maybe having lunch,” the local resident said.

Mayor Bill de Blasio showed death in an interview with 1010 WINS radio this afternoon, warned citizens to stay indoors until at least five in the afternoon when the typhoon passes through the city.He warned that other trees would most likely fall and warned citizens to be on guard.

“It’s very damaging there because of the winds, and we still have a few hours of very strong winds,” de Blasio said.”It’s a big challenge in the city and what happened in Queens is an unhappy and terrible scenario, just when a user is there, so without delay he left. It’s a very sudden scenario.

The mayor said more than 2,000 trees had fallen in the city due to the storm, damaging power lines, cars and killing the guy in Queens. Several other people were also injured, police said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

In a Bay Ridge neighborhood, each and every street on Bay Ridge Parkway on 86th Street between Colonial Road and Ridge Boulevard are absolutely blocked through fallen trees, branches and lines of force.

“I hadn’t noticed anything like it since Hurricane Sandy,” one resident said.”It looked like a jet plane.”
