Helmut Marko is from the Mercedes threat.
Red Bull’s Helmut Marko is aware that Mercedes may pose a risk next season as he perceives the Silver Arrows as a greater danger than Ferrari.
After a difficult start to the year, Red Bull temporarily resolved its reliability issues and demonstrated an impressive point of progression and operational efficiency.
With the resurgence of Ferrari Red Bull’s self-destruction in 2022, there is widespread skepticism about the Italian team’s ability to launch a serious challenge to the name next year.
Mercedes lacked the speed to fight for race wins, and was behind Red Bull at the start of the new regulations.
Even with this tricky start, the Silver Arrows made remarkable progress in the season and eventually took victory in Brazil.
Speaking to SPORT BILD, Helmut Marko spoke about the Mercedes threat:
“Ferrari is strong, but Mercedes will be strong as a whole. Especially with a driving force like Lewis Hamilton. He’s still a very sensible driving force. “
“Although Ferrari also has a very intelligent driving force in Leclerc, it makes mistakes.
“Mercedes did it to us throughout the year. . . They have more time in the wind tunnel to expand the car.
“But I’m not too worried, we’re on track for 2023 and with Max we have the driving force on the grid. “
Marko’s tests of Hamilton and Leclerc would possibly be questioned, but his belief that Mercedes is the biggest risk to Red Bull speaks volumes.
Ferrari’s F1-75 is an incredibly competitive machine, but the Italian team’s incompetence proved to be a limiting factor in the good fortune of its 2022 campaign.
Despite all its difficulties and demanding situations to optimize the W13, Mercedes maximised its speed and finished within close distance of Ferrari in qualifying.
As the 2023 season approaches, it will be Mercedes closing the functionality hole with Red Bull if they need to fight for the championship.
