Exports of Indian-made Skoda Kushaq SUVs begin to global markets

Skoda India announced today that the company has started exporting the Indian-made Kushaq midsize SUV to global markets. With this move, the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) group marks a vital milestone in its adventure towards India 2. 0. The Czech automaker says this is a historic achievement, as the Kushaq is the first Skoda style built to be exported from India.

The first batch of Skoda Kushaq LHD SUVs is intended for the countries of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC). Skoda will export the LHD (left-hand drive) and RHD (right-hand drive) versions of the Kushaq to overseas markets, AGCC countries and Indian subcontinent. The Skoda Kushaq is designed in India and manufactured at the Group’s Chakan plant in Maharashtra.

Commenting on the occasion, Piyush Arora, Managing Director of ŠKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited, said: “It is a proud moment for the team in India when a ŠKODA style joins the group’s export range. The ŠKODA KUSHAQ is the third Indian automobile manufacturer to be exported this year, and we are convinced that the Group’s effort to “design cars in India to be driven around the world” has been remarkably successful.

He added: “The market acceptance and good fortune of all our exports underlines our global quality standards. The KUSHAQ is built according to the needs of our consumers in India and around the world, and we are confident that this stylish, well-equipped, rugged and vehicle-accessible SUVs will open doors to new markets and regions for SAVWIPL.

SAVWIPL began its export program in 2011 with the Indian-made Volkswagen Vento for the South African market. Since then, the company’s export market has grown and lately exports to 44 countries in South America, Central America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, SCGA countries and the Caribbean region. Mexico is the largest export market for SAVWIPL.
