Once the formula is activated, drivers can adjust the activated settings by pressing a button on the steering wheel.

Ford added: “Use the five-way transfer on the left side of your guide wheel to set up. Select Driver Assist, and then select Lane Keeping System. This is where you can transfer between modes.

“There is an ‘Alert’ that will alert you if leaving your lane sends 3 short vibrations to the idler to warn you to return your vehicle to your lane.

“Assist,” which uses the sterling formula to gently steer the vehicle into its lane. Or “Both”, which activates the alert and modes simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Toyota said its settings can be activated using a button on the steering wheel located just below the five-way system.

They added: “When you press the button, a window will appear on the multi-information screen to inform you that the formula is active.

“It will also instruct you not to exercise lane change caution at speeds below 32 mph. There will also be an LDA reminder in the toolgroup to remind you that the feature is enabled.
