BRUSSELS – EU antitrust regulators until 2 February if they will allow the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group, said a presentation on the European Commission’s online page on Thursday.
After a two-month ruling, the European Commission resumed its investigation into the agreement after corporations had requested the knowledge it had requested.
The Commission launched an investigation in June, fearing that the agreement to create the world’s fourth largest car manufacturer could damage the van festival in 14 EU and UK countries.
PSA has proposed adjustments to its joint van company with Toyota to dispel EU antitrust considerations about its plan to create the world’s fourth-largest automaker with FCA, resources close to the issue told Reuters.
PSA has announced that it will increase Toyota’s production capacity at its joint venture plant in Sevelnord, France, in an attempt to address EU concerns, resources said. PSA builds the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Jumpy vans at the factory, as well as the Toyota ProAce.
The EU executive will now ask for feedback on competition and consumers before deciding whether to settle for the offer or ask for more concessions.
