Two shots were heard on CCTV when a Mongolian motorcycle shot down on a quiet street in north Melbourne.

A video, which appears to be captured through a car camera, captured the moment the cyclist Shane Bowden, 47, was injured while talking to two men at the entrance to a Young St space in Epping earlier this month.

Detectives from the Echo task forces who broke the motorcycles released the July 1 incident on Thursday as they continue to investigate the shooting.

Police said the shots were fired from a car, which is believed to be a white BMW, hitting Bowden in the torso decline.

The BMW accelerated with headlights in front of the camera around 7.40pm.

Paramedics attended and treated Bowden before taking him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured in the shooting.

Since then, Bowden has been expelled from Mongolia’s outlaw biker gang, the Herald Sun reports, and the shooting came just two weeks after his release from prison.

Echo Taskforce detective inspector Graham Banks said the shooting was a targeted attack, but there is a threat that other blameless people will be injured or killed.

Investigators had spoken to the victim several times about the incident.

“This is incredibly relative and it’s simply about the recklessness of some other people in those kinds of problems and the general lack of fear for the community,” Inspector Banks said.

“A projectile like the one coming out of a firearm can be at a significant distance, which is obviously very worrying.”

Inspector Banks said the detectives were still running to the reason for the shooting and who was to blame.

He said they were in if the three men were the target of the shooting or just Bowden.

“There are other people who will know who is worried and in particular we will ask them to think about the damage that has been done,” Inspector Banks said.

“Every time there is a factor involving OMCG, there are opposing parts. If it comes to OMCG, there will be other people who will be aware of it and who will not necessarily be surprised by what happened.”

“These other people have a confidential way of talking to us and we will treat this information securely.”

Detectives also released a white BMW symbol similar to the one used in the attack and would like to talk to who recognizes the car or saw it in the Epping domain at the time of the shooting.

They have still dropped main points of the firearm involved.
