Dr. T N Subramaniam, a prominent Indian-born mathematician and founder and director of U. S. auto giant General Motors, died here on Tuesday at the age of 76.
Subramaniam, who immigrated to the United States in 1979, was famous in educational circles in India and the United States. He leaves a rich legacy of mathematical models and theories for the world of mathematics.
He contracted through General Motors to build mathematical models for GM cars.
Later, he founded the company Route One for the automaker, which is responsible for the automatic financing of all GM cars and GPS systems.
He is the server architect for General Motors’ site in Troy, Michigan, USA. U. S.
Indira Gandhi, then Prime Minister, also met him on a field trip and encouraged him to be avant-garde and do things the country can be proud of.
Subramaniam is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law, who work for Biden’s administration in the state of Maryland.
He is also survived by his younger brother, TN Ashok, a foreign blogger for TNA Talk and former editor (economics) of the Press Trust of India.
