A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after he crashed into a traffic light in Aberdare.

South Wales police were at the crash site on A4059 between Meirion Street and McDonald’s on A4233 at around 11.50pm on Saturday.

The vehicle’s driving force, a black Peugeot 107, was injured after the car collided with a traffic signal.

“They took him to the hospital where he remains in serious condition,” said a police spokeswoman.

“The officers would like to thank those who provided assistance and testimony at the site.”

The police are now asking for witnesses.

The spokesman added: “We call on anyone who witnessed the collision or how the vehicle drove in the moments leading up to it, and who has not yet spoken to the police, to come forward.”

They would also like to listen with a dashboard camera, a cell phone or CCTV photographs that can help the investigation.
